Atelier de Miguel House

A European-Inspired Renovation in the Heart of Fullerton

"A home should feel as though it has always belonged."

That single idea became the guiding principle behind Atelier de Miguel House.

Located in one of Fullerton's most established neighborhoods, this project was never intended to be another cosmetic renovation. Instead, our goal was to create a home with permanence—a residence that felt refined, authentic, and thoughtfully evolved over time rather than recently remodeled.

Inspired by European country homes and understated French architecture, every decision was made with longevity in mind. We wanted each space to feel warm, collected, and quietly luxurious while providing the functionality today's families expect.

The Vision

When we first walked through the property, we saw far more than dated finishes.

We saw soaring ceilings waiting to become architectural features, natural light that deserved to be celebrated, and a floor plan capable of becoming both elegant and highly functional.

Rather than chase design trends, we focused on timeless materials and proportions.

Natural stone replaced manufactured surfaces.

Warm white oak became the foundation of the home.

Handcrafted tile, antique-inspired fixtures, custom millwork, and soft neutral palettes created depth without unnecessary ornamentation.

The objective wasn't simply to renovate the house—it was to restore its sense of character.

Designing for Everyday Living

Luxury is often misunderstood.

True luxury isn't excess.

It's walking into a home where every room feels intuitive, every material invites touch, and every space serves a purpose.

The kitchen became the heart of the home.

Designed around entertaining as much as everyday life, it features custom cabinetry, natural stone countertops and backsplash, premium appliances, a generous walk-in pantry, integrated storage solutions, and a large gathering island that naturally draws family and guests together.

Just beyond, the vaulted living room became one of the home's defining spaces. A custom fireplace anchors the room while built-in cabinetry, engineered white oak flooring, and steel-framed doors create a seamless connection between the interior and the backyard.

The primary suite was envisioned as a boutique hotel retreat.

Moroccan Zellige tile, natural stone finishes, custom vanities, premium fixtures, and a spacious walk-in closet transform the space into something both calming and highly functional.

Every room throughout the home was designed to feel connected—not through repetition, but through consistency in scale, materiality, and craftsmanship.

Extending the Home Outdoors

One of the home's greatest assets was its expansive lot.

Rather than treat the backyard as a separate space, we designed it as an extension of the architecture itself.

An antique limestone fountain welcomes visitors at the front of the home, while mature olive trees, lavender gardens, low-voltage landscape lighting, and carefully layered planting create a landscape that feels established rather than newly installed.

The intention was simple:

When someone arrives, the property should feel as though it has been cared for over decades.

Beauty Behind the Walls

Some of the most important work completed during this renovation is never seen.

While luxury finishes often receive the attention, lasting value comes from investing in the home's infrastructure.

The project included significant improvements throughout the property, including a new roof, updated plumbing, electrical improvements, new windows and doors, structural enhancements, and modernized mechanical systems.

These investments ensure the home's beauty is supported by reliability for years to come.

Bringing the Story to Market

Design alone doesn't sell homes.

Presentation does.

From the beginning, the marketing strategy focused on telling the story behind the renovation rather than simply showcasing finished rooms.

Professional architectural photography, cinematic video, thoughtfully curated print materials, broker previews, digital advertising, social media campaigns, and luxury open house experiences allowed prospective buyers to understand not only what had been built—but why.

The response exceeded expectations.

The property generated more than 16,000 online views, over 500 saves, and welcomed hundreds of visitors through multiple open houses.

Several offers followed.

Like many luxury transactions during a changing market, the path to closing wasn't perfectly linear. Multiple escrows fell apart due to financing challenges and market conditions beyond the property's control. Through disciplined pricing, consistent marketing, and patient negotiation, the project ultimately closed successfully for $1,875,000.

Lessons Beyond Design

Atelier de Miguel House reinforced something we believe deeply:

Great homes are created through countless intentional decisions.

Some are visible.

Many are not.

Successful projects require thoughtful design, disciplined budgeting, careful construction, strategic marketing, and experienced negotiation working together toward a common vision.

No single element creates exceptional results.

It's the combination of all of them.

Looking Forward

Every property holds untapped potential.

Sometimes it requires thoughtful design.

Sometimes strategic planning.

Sometimes simply seeing what others overlook.

Whether preparing a home for market, planning a comprehensive renovation, or evaluating a future investment, our philosophy remains unchanged:

Honor the architecture. Invest in quality. Create lasting value.

Because exceptional homes are never accidental.

They are intentionally crafted.

Thoughtful Design. Strategic Marketing. Proven Results.
